singletons raise the roof on Vday
*the pier at merseyside gives look at bayside living*
i just saw photos of my cousin Karla's recent holiday at Ilocos. she's one example of single person i know who lives her life to the fullest. she gets to enjoy life on her own terms (albeit her responsibilities to her family), and lives the fab lifeof a young career woman who is unattached. she epitomises for me that singlehood should be celebrated because of the freedom to have lesser worries and responsibilities than family people.
fab single people dont worry about being lonesome on valentines day too. as in her case, she is on her way to singapore to do a star cruise (to some asian countries) with friends. some other fab single people i know are having a grand time doing what they liked doing best; travelling, partying, going out with equally gorgeous single friends, and a healthy lonesome (yet NOT lonely) celebration.
my sister Ana said, she is celebrating it with my Mama. theyre both single. and not without fun, those two. im sure they will be out sampling food and going out for a splash of shopping. other single friends have itineraries equal to that of a celebrity's black book. Leah is out with group of people who, like her, do climbing for fun, and competetive kayaking.
my equally fab cousin Tony, is single, but always out and about, and busy with social life to her liking. at times when shed rather be at home, it would be her choice and not someone elses.
valentine's day is merely a date pegged for couples and marriages who has the need to spark up lost romance. and for other couples who are still on honeymooning phase (like Ades and i), to keep postponing the honeymoon cut-off (as well as a constant excuse to extend his birthday celebration).
and as for single people, its a recognition, that a time when couples (although not all) get panicky after being sucked into hallmark card adverts and discount rates at flower shops, all nighter price at a cheap dingy motel,or the lure of dinner date at expensive restaurants, its a reminder that after the calendar day falls off its page, singletons have the last laugh, and say to their life.
while some couples have to bear and grin that the other 364 days, there will be thorns instead of flowers thrown their way.
*written in defense of singles who got a life on valentines day* i got tons of friends who do =)

chel, i love what you wrote here. =) i once was single pod baya and the kantyaw and all that, quiber jud kaayo to. it's really the day after valentine's that i look forward to...kay sweldo! hahaha. bitaw oi, valentine's is just so overrated! but then, who am i to complain to spark up romance a bit? hehe.
sakto gyud jane...before, i was pressured when i was single too...but then when i got married, i realised, hyped up raman diay kaayo ning vaentines kay ang real meaning sa love is not during the sweet dinner, its after the wining and dining,haha..but if during valentines, the other half makes an effort, its not bad either=) kalisud palipayon sa babaye, haha=)
amen! on valentines, i am going to pampangga with my friends for the hot balloon festival. ang boyfriend, bilin. hahahaha! =D
wow ai!!!=) thats=sounds like fun!!!=) im sure charlie wouldnt mind, as its valentines day everyday with the two of you=)
when i was young and single, valentine's was so all that. now that im married, it's not a big deal anymore not because it doesn't exist in the husband's calendar, but because you realize, after a year or two of receiving expensive flower bouquets and eating out, it really is just an ordinary day made extra-special by commercialism. hahaha.
but nothing beats being single, unattached and free. you get a different kind of high by having that power to do everything you want without thinking of somebody else. hehehe.

--thats what i keep telling people who seem to lord over my single friends and give them a hard time with "kantyaw",haha=)
the wonderful thing is kaith, weve done that, and got the tshirt..were now in our married phase, and we appreciate what we have now too:-) it doesnt mean we feel superior nor inferior to our single friends...both status have pros and cons, and whatever stage one is in, al we could do, is make the most out of it=)
a long time ago before blogging began i wrote something about being a singleton. not because i didn't have a boyfriend but because i was living a life of a singleton w/the benefits of having someone special from far away. it was the sweet independence and that comfort of having found love at the same time.
but really, i wouldn't want to be a singleton anymore because it really feels wonderful to be sharing a life with my man.
and back to valentines, it's never been a big deal for me and the husband. it's a joke of a holiday. ambot uy gastos man lang ni hahaha!!!

hahaha, i know, kita ray giilad, haha=)
there's two ways of looking at valentines day...you can see it from a single lady'spoint of view, or an attached woman's point of view=)
the beauty is, you can make this day as least gasto if ne wants to...i remember, because adrian always is at work during valentines, i sud to cook our meal ready for him, id dress up and put candlelights for dinner, haha=) there was one time, we splurged but its not as nice..maybe because we expected so much for paying on an expensive meal..:-)
but che, you and mark are having a Vday celeb everyday, that when he comes in , the meal is prepared and with akio around-its chirstmas and valentines altogether,haha:-)
i saw karla and leah the same afternoon i commented on this post. nagkita mi sa parlor. haha. those two glowed. :) i told karla we should get together sometime.
