rest in peace

i would just like to explain (to friends who might be wondering i have not joined the bandwagon of putting yellow ribbons), that i am no disrespectful to the memories of a very remarkable woman that was Mrs.Aquino. im sure she was a wonderful mother and truly still an exemplery character.

my political views are just of a different fence than that of Mrs. Aquino. my family from my side were loyalists of the Marcoses. I AM NOT. because growing up, i could see how corrupt the family of the Marcoses were.

but needless to say, growing up, those subconscious level of brainwashing are still embedded in the recesses of my brain.

i feel for the Aquino family, its hard to lose a mother. i feel for her friends and for the rest of the Philippine society who now has lost an example of a brave woman who stood against a corrupt government (knowing full too well her children were yet small). i feel for me, because i was only 10 years old that time, i remember my family going through a different family crises whilst Malacanang was being overturned with angry fed up nation.

needless to say, i am still ambivalent. i cannot commend Mrs. Aquino's time in power. we were still in turmoil during her regime, (apart from the fact, she was cleaning up the mess the past 20 years of dictatorship left). hence no yellow ribbons from me, a reminder of this inner turmoil, being akin to some loyalista, but not a fan of the Marcoses myself. but i am like that, i cannot commend any of the powers that sat in our government so far in my adult life.

but i am offering prayers for a soul that was lost. if i had a daughter, i wish her the bravery and dignity that Mrs. Aquino exemplified.

***

please do not judge me for the political views i stand for.

i do choose my battles.

because real friends deserve an explanation=)

as i always say chel, to each his/her own ra gyud na, in all aspects in life. =)

when i was in grade school, i read all the books i could get my hands on about the marcoses. my grandfather fed my curiosity, he bought me lots of books about them. since i was 8, i've always been fascinated by their life.

i think, ferdinand marcos was still the most brilliant president we had.

sadly, something went wrong along the way and many, others i know, suffered in his hands. =(

the dad of C, marcos loyalist pud. he spoke to the late president on the phone and granted him citizenship on the spot. =)

and oh, i met the former first lady imelda marcos in person and my golly, she is charming!

it's okay. i don't even have any yellow ribbon in either of my online profiles. but i have celebrated and prayed for her death by watching old videos during her reign. honoring the things she's done... i guess, i am just too lazy to embed a yellow ribbon. besides, i never liked yellow hi hi hi!

nothing to worry chel. i felt the sadness when president aquino died..it is not politically related though. it's more of how a great person she was..mother,motivator, etc..

like you, i am not into politics. it's crazy and chaotic.

i know you'd understand ai=) i feel i need to explain to people who i care, alot of my friends on facebook were putting yellow ribbons, and one asked me in a jokey manner that i might have forgotten PEOPLE POWER because i live here..=) i explained the same thing, but i thought if someone close to me, could ask me that question, alot of people are probably are wondering too.

politics is quite important to me, the very reason, i feel i need people important to me know how i feel on certain issues..=)

but like most things in my life, i dont impose it on other people, i keep mum about controversial topics like politics and religion. but i guess, times like Mrs. Aquino's passing, and i know alot of people are passionate about it,i think, i just want people to know im not indifferent to it. theres more to my silence than what meets the eye=)

i am a fan of the Macapagal era...=)and might be for a very long time=)

hi che=) same here, ive watched videos of her. it made me teary eyed and nostalgic...it made me understand her more. but mao lagi, i feel some parts of me feel guilty that im turning back on family loyalty to the Marcoses.

i admire Cory for her bravery. what extraordinary courage could one woman bear to overturn 20 years of dictatorship...its hard to find someone like that now.

but Aung San Suu Kyi, she is my hero in bravery=)

May Mrs. Aquino's soul rest in peace=)
